Being Prepared for Next Round of Snow

The chances of snow are increasing each day, and hardware stores are saying stock up before it's too late

DULUTH, Minn.- With the chances for significant snowfall growing every day, hardware stores are saying stock up on your snow removal tools before the big one hits.

Shovels, snow blowers and salt are just some of the tools getting on the minds of Northlanders now that the first accumulating snowfall of the season has hit the Twin Ports.

The General Manager of the Duluth Burggraf’s Ace Hardware tells us the winter rush actually hasn’t started yet. He says more snow will have to fall before things get really busy.

“I think a lot of folks are looking at this little dusting inch or so we got and they are still in denial. Usually we see a noticeable uptick once we get a couple inches on the ground and it’s definitely not going anywhere”, said Kristopher Catt.

And while some may still be holding off until the first big snowfall, the crew at Ace stresses to stock up now so you don’t have potential road blocks during a storm.

“It’s just always adding on that extra thing they may have forgotten. Whether you need a new pair of gloves, is 20 pounds of ice melt going to do the trick for me, is it time to get a new snowblower, do you need to get that snowblower tuned up. Trying to save folks a trip by making sure they’ve got the extra things they need”, said Catt.

The next measurable snow will be this weekend, so there is time to get to the hardware store if you need too.
