Hosts Quinnipiac Too Much for UMD Women’s Hockey in Day One of Nutmeg Classic

Despite getting the loss, the Bulldogs outshot the Bobcats 44-21 on Friday.

HAMDEN, Conn. – The No. 9 Minnesota Duluth women’s hockey team outshot Quinnipiac 44-21 on Friday afternoon, but the hosts would find a way to get the job done, as the Bobcats got the 4-2 win in the first game of the Nutmeg Classic.

Jalyn Elmes and Ashton Bell both scored for the Bulldogs, while Maddie Rooney made 17 saves. Gabbie Hughes had the assist on Bell’s goal, and extends her current scoring streak to six games and nine points.

UMD (7-5-2) will play the University of Connecticut in the consolation game on Saturday with puck drop set for noon.
