Superior YMCA Welcomes People In To Warm Up During Cold Temperatures

There is no limit to the number of people who can use the facility as a warming station.

SUPERIOR, Wis. – Winter has gotten off to an early start with huge piles of snow already covering the Northland.

With frigid temperatures on the way, having a place to warm up  can be crucial for those who need it most.

The Superior YMCA is now opening it’s doors to allow anyone, for any reason to stop by its facility to use it as a warming station.

The lobby will be available when temperatures dip below zero or wind chill reaches -25 degrees.

“There’s a lot of need out there. There’s people that don’t necessarily have a place to go. We just want to be that place. That’s part of our social responsibility to take care of the community,” said CEO Chris Stenberg.

Visitors stopping by to warm up can enjoy refreshments such as coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.

There is no limit to the number of people who can use the facility as a warming station.

The facility is open to the public as a warming center during the Superior YMCA’s regular business hours, listed below.

Sunday: 10:00am-5:00pm
Monday-Friday: 5:30am-9:00pm
Saturday: 8:00am-5:00pm

The Superior YMCA is located at 9 North 21st Street.
