UMD Women’s Hockey Team Look to Strengthen Playoff Position

Puck drop for the Bulldogs vs. the Mavericks Friday night in Mankato is set for 7:07 p.m.

DULUTH, Minn. – The UMD women’s hockey team have rattled off three straight wins over top-5 ranked opponents, pushing them to #8 in the Pairwise rankings. Some more quality wins and the Bulldogs might not have to win the WCHA Frozen Face-off and could get in with an at-large bid.

“It allows you to play more free and just kind of not have so much pressure on your shoulders. I think either way, we’re sitting in a good spot right now,” said forward Syndey Brodt.

“Coming into this weekend, Mankato we got to get those W’s and then hopefully we can pull out one or two against Wisconsin. I think we’re definitely on the right track for that right now. With the confidence we’re building, hopefully it will work out and then we can put ourselves in a good spot for the postseason,” forward Anna Klein said.

“I think we’re feeling good in the locker room. I think they understand that we have a chance to do some special things this year. And we’ve talked about that for a long time, but you really have to get the wins, get the quality wins to actually start believing and understanding that this time in the season, every game is so big,” said head coach Maura Crowell.
