Aitkin County Crash Leads Officers to Woman Reportedly Taken from Her Home

AITKIN COUNTY, Minn. – A two-vehicle crash in Aitkin Township led authorities to a woman who was allegedly taken from her home against her will.

According to the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a two-vehicle crash three miles north of the city of Aitkin at about 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 6th. Nobody was injured in the crash.

At the scene, witnesses told officers a woman who was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the crash had been taken from her home against her will.

The witnesses described a man they say pulled into their driveway, physically put the woman into his pickup truck, and drove away.

Both witnesses used their vehicles to chase the pickup truck. At one point, two of the vehicles collided, one leaving the roadway and rolling over.

According to authorities, the driver of the pickup truck fled into the nearby woods. A K9 track was deployed and the man was located hiding in the woods.

A 32-year-old Ramsey, Minnesota man was taken into custody. There are two Domestic Abuse No Contact Orders prohibiting the suspect from having contact with the woman he allegedly took from the home.

The suspect is in Aitkin County jail awaiting formal charges.
