MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers is ordering an indefinite ban on all gatherings of more than 50 people to slow the spread of COVID-19.

State health officials said Monday for the first time there was likely community spread of the virus among people who had not traveled to high-risk areas.

The number of cases of the new coronavirus in Wisconsin increased from 33 to 47.

The Evers order will force bars and restaurants to limit the number of customers on St. Patrick’s Day on Tuesday to no more than 50, or half of their licensed capacity, whichever is smaller.
