148th Fighter Wing Airmen Return Home After 60 Day Mission

Coming home with a pandemic going on and being able to reunite with our families is very comforting," said 179th Fighter Squadron Commander Paul Thorton.

DULUTH, Minn. – Airmen from the 148th Fighter Wing in Duluth recently returned home after completing a 60 day mission.

A group of aviators from the fighter wing were deployed to an undisclosed location to help support a northern air defense mission.

This required them to help enforce temporary flight restrictions for the purpose of national defense.

The Squadron Commander says it is a relief to be home during this rough time as the pandemic continues.

“We are proud of the work we did in the defense of the homeland. Coming home with a pandemic going on and being able to reunite with our families is very comforting,” said 179th Fighter Squadron Commander Paul Thorton.

Thankfully no one became ill during this mission.

The group split into two shifts during their mission to help prevent any potential spread of Covid-19.
