DULUTH, Minn. – A local church has set up a food shelf drive-thru for guests.

The Vineyard Church in Duluth organized the Fruit of the Vine Food Shelf. The shelf is usually set up like a grocery store where people can pick out what they want.

However, during the pandemic, the shelf is now a drive-thrum model where those in need line up outside in their cars and volunteers bring out the food to them.

Guests can pick out from a selection fo canned goods, meats, dairy, and bread.

“I just love being able to meet the needs of people in practical ways,” said Katie Walker, food shelf director at Vineyard Church. “I know that doesn’t feel like it changes their whole life but even just getting a box of food makes everybody’s day more functionable and better.”

The church has also been doing delivery to meet the needs of those without access to transportation or those who are high-risk.
