Drive-by Retirement Party for Proctor High School Teacher

PROCTOR, Minn. – A retiring teacher was celebrated today at Proctor High School. Sheila Held joined the staff at Proctor High in 1986 and she’s retiring this year. Students and faculty drove by in cars today to send her off and even though it wasn’t a traditional retirement party, teachers say it was a way to show their appreciation.

“We’ve been talking about a way to honor her and this is a great way to be able to do that without being able to get together in a retirement party kind of an atmosphere,” said Teacher Glen Gilderman.

Held says that she’s blessed to know the students and staff in her district.

“Figured maybe a couple people would come and give well-wishes and the cars just kept coming and coming and it made me feel just blessed to work with such wonderful people in such a wonderful district,” said Sheila Held, English teacher at Proctor High School.

Held has been a long time English teacher at Proctor High School.
