Health Officials Reminding Folks Of The Potential COVID-19 Risks During Labor Day

DULUTH, Minn. — Although celebrating the Labor Day holiday is often a way to take a break and say goodbye to summer, St. Louis County health officials are urging folks to use caution when participating in holiday gatherings.

Labor day is typically a holiday where people celebrate with barbecues and other social events., but attending these types of gatherings can be very risky.

Health experts at the St. Louis County Public Health Division say these social events may be a driver in the community transmission of the virus.

“There is asymptomatic exposure potentially. People may be pre-symptomatic. People may be mildly symptomatic. You never know,” said Amy Westbrook, Public Health Division Director for St. Louis County.

If you still choose to celebrate, health experts say everyone should wear a mask, even if you are outside and cannot social distance.

Also, it is recommended to stay home if you are feeling sick.
