MSHSL Looking Into Possible Fall Restart for Football, Volleyball Seasons

The MSHSL's next official meeting is set for October 1st.

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. – Back in early August, the Minnesota State High School League moved both the football and volleyball seasons to the spring. Needless to say, a lot of people were not happy with that decision. But now it seems like that decision could be re-visited, and maybe even reversed.

During their workshop meeting Tuesday afternoon, the MSHSL discussed the possibility of restarting the football and volleyball seasons. According to David La Vaque of the Star Tribune, board president Blaine Novak is leaning towards calling a meeting this Friday to decide on a fall restart for those sports. No decision has been made yet on that meeting, which would include a survey to member schools.

The board also heard from members of the Minnesota Department of Health, who revealed outbreaks among hockey and basketball players, specifically those who traveled out of state to play this summer. The MSHSL’s next official meeting is set for October 1st.
