November Is Adopt A Senior Pet Month

SUPERIOR, Wis. – If you’ve been thinking about welcoming a new furry friend into your home, this month might be the perfect time to do it.

November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month.

The national month observation is dedicated to helping older pets find their forever homes.

Senior animals are typically looked over because many are facing health challenges.

A staff member at the Human Society of Douglas County, who adopted a senior pet, says older animals still deserve to be loved.

“They actually have the most love to give, so they deserve the most love,” said Joy Oswskey, a kennel clerk at the Human Society of Douglas County. “My senior pet was just amazing. He loved us so much.”

The Humane Society of Douglas County typically get about 50 senior cats and dogs a year.
