First Positive COVID-19 Case Confirmed at CHUM

DULUTH, Minn. – CHUM announced on Thursday that they have had a first positive COVID-19 case in the shelter and are now taking steps to isolate anyone potentially exposed.

Starting today, CHUM will be moving people to the St. Louis County designated Isolation and Quarantine hotel until it is safe to return to the community.

“We have been planning for this for months and are now executing that plan in cooperation with St. Louis County and St. Luke’s,” said CHUM Executive Director Lee Stuart.

CHUM Shelter will be closed Thursday afternoon for deep cleaning and will reopen on Monday.

People seeking emergency shelter can still go to CHUM for a referral to testing and safe quarantine.
