The DECC Hosts Annual Visit Duluth Meeting

DULUTH, Minn.-With the first week of May being National Travel and Tourism Week, Visit Duluth hosted their annual meeting to talk about the state of the tourism industry, and future plans for the summer, which includes some major events like Grandma’s Marathon, and all the concerts at Bayfront Festival Park.

This was the first time the meeting has taken place since may of 2019 with about 100 people attending.

“Duluth is a great place to visit, but it’s the people who work day in and day out in our industry who really make it worth it to come back time and time again,” said Maarja Anderson Hewitt, the director of communications at Visit Duluth.

The event recognized some of these special people, awarding the annual Zenith Spirit Award to Steve Rankila, the director of internal operations at the DECC, while the Volunteer of the Year award went to Jason Vincent, the owner of the Boatclub Restaurant and Visit Duluth board member.
