Tortoise and Hare Footwear Gears Up For Grandma’s Marathon in June
As the buzz around Grandma's is growing, many more are coming in for running shoes and gear.
DULUTH, Minn.- Some local shoe stores are feeling the runner’s high from Grandma’s Marathon weekend approaching next month.
Owners of Tortoise and Hare Footwear in Duluth’s Denfeld neighborhood say it’s been a pretty busy spring with many coming in for hiking shoes and boots to get out to places like the Superior Hiking Trail.
But as the buzz around Grandma’s is growing, many more are coming in for running shoes and gear.
This, as staff prepare to have their booth at the health and fitness expo during the marathon again, anxious to get back into the hype.
“It’s just such a high energy event, it’s tons of work for us — that’s our marathon!” co-owner Mary Stukel said.
“We’re there all day long and packing up at midnight sill on Friday night but we love it,” she said. “People are so fun to talk to all over the country.”
If you’re shopping for the most comfortable shoe for a marathon or even just a daily jog, according to Stukel it’s key to pay attention to and match the arches of your feet.
