UMD’s Haleigh Reindl Excited for Another Trip to Nationals

Reindl will take part in the 800-meter run for the second time in her career and fifth overall when combining the indoor track and field season.

DULUTH, Minn. – This weekend, UMD’s Haleigh Reindl will yet again represent the Bulldogs at the 2021 NCAA Division II outdoor track and field championships.

Reindl will take part in the 800-meter run for the second time in her career and fifth overall when combining the indoor track and field season. She credits a lot of her success to head coach Laura Harmon, saying that her college career would be much different if Harmon didn’t come to UMD.

“I’ve had her for all of my track seasons and she just really understands her athletes and understands how to prepare us to compete very well,” Reindl said.

And as with all spring athletes, Reindl is extra motivated by how last season abruptly ended due to the pandemic.

“I’ve had a spring track season for years now and just to have that taken away, and then not be with my teammates, not be in Duluth. I was actually in my hometown. Just to be able to compete and be able to travel and be with my teammates, it means the world to me,” said Reindl.

Reindl’s preliminary heat will be Friday at 4:40 p.m. The top two times in each heat and the next five best times will advance to Saturday’s championship race.
