City Hosts Duluth City Flag Raising Ceremony

DULUTH, Minn.- The City of Duluth invited the community for their new flag raising ceremony at City Hall earlier today.

The Duluth fire and police departments’ honor guard presented and installed the new flag. City officials and members of the community were in attendance; those attending say they are proud of the new flag and what it represents.

“I think it kinda represents the community, it’s a little less formal from–if people know what our old flag–it was with the city seal,” said Duluth Fire Chief Shawn Krizaj. “A little more official looking, but this is more fun and kinda symbolic.”

The new city flag includes the colors blue, white, gold and green representing the lake, snow, hills and sky surrounding Duluth.

The Duluth flag project held a contest where 195 flag designs were submitted. City officials will continue putting flags up on city properties.
