UMD Football Hosts Final Session of Summer Team Camps

The UMD staff hopes that the camp allows teams to get a little ahead on their fall camp work before their seasons begin next month.

DULUTH, Minn. – The final session of UMD football team camps wrapped up Wednesday at Malosky Stadium.

20 teams were on campus for this session as they received training from the Bulldogs’ coaching staff and got to scrimmage against one another as well.

“Just really cool to play on this field and just get an opportunity to get a chance to play before the season with your guys and getting to know all the other guys and seeing the other talent and just having a fun time with them,” said Ashland quarterback Kade Jolma

“They’re a great program and that really helps. So you know the kids are getting great coaches. They’re getting great competitions from the other high schools. I think I’ve heard that from every one of my kids, saying how much fun they’re having and they’re enjoying. They’re putting the pads back on and we just get it to go and play football,” Esko head coach Scott Arntson.

The UMD staff hopes that the camp allows teams to get a little ahead on their fall camp work before their seasons begin next month.

“I think the biggest thing is the high school coaches get to work with their teams. And then the last component is we scrimmage so you kind of get to see some live football, which we haven’t seen in a while. The thing that you hope they take away is that they’ve gotten better as players. They’ve gotten closer as a team and that they’re really excited about the fall coming up,” said UMD associate head coach John Steger.

UMD will host their final summer camp for individual skills Thursday at Malosky Stadium.
