More Details Released in Tuesday’s East Hillside Shooting
DULUTH, Minn.-More details are being released today in Tuesday’s East Hillside shooting, including the name of the victim.
According to authorities, at around 8:20 a.m. Duluth Police Officers were dispatched to a call of sounds of shots fired in the area of 15th Avenue East and Superior Street. The police say a 21-year-old male suspect was in a car driven by a 25-year-old woman, going southbound, when they saw the victim walking down the street.
The man is then accused of shooting between five and eight rounds at the victim. The victim, identified as 21-year-old Christian Grimes, was struck and transported to the hospital. The victim is listed in stable condition.
The initial investigation showed that both the suspect and victim knew each other and the drive-by shooting stemmed from an altercation earlier in the day.
Upon speaking to multiple witnesses, officers located the male suspect in a home on the 1900 block of Jefferson Street. Investigators, along with the Tactical Response Team arrested him without incident on pending charges of attempted second degree murder, reckless discharge of a firearm, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. The driver was also arrested in connection to the shooting on pending charges of aiding an offender.
