Duluth Man Injured in Officer Involved Shooting in Morgan Park

DULUTH, Minn. – Authorities say a Duluth man was injured in an officer-involved shooting Tuesday morning in the Morgan Park neighborhood.

According to the MN BCA, St. Louis County sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of suspicious activity in Morgan Park around 1:40 a.m.

Deputies responding to the scene attempted to stop an ATV with two male passengers that were driving in a wooded area near Commonwealth Avenue and Idaho Street.

The men fled on the ATV and a pursuit ensued.

Authorities say a K9 deputy eventually located the men in nearby woods around 2:30 a.m.

Shortly after, it is reported that one of the deputies discharged their weapon which struck and injured one of the men.

Medical aid was provided at the scene.

The man was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released into custody.

The 29-year-old man is facing charges on probable cause fleeing and obstruction with force.

The other man on the ATV was questioned by authorities and released.

St. Louis County sheriff’s deputies do not wear body cameras and there is no squad camera footage of the incident.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the incident and says more information will be made available once initial interviews are complete.

Once the investigation is complete, the BCA will provide its findings without recommendation to the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office for review.
