UMD Men’s Hockey Set for Home-and-Home Series with Minnesota

Friday night's game will take place down at 3M Arena at Mariucci, while Saturday's will be played at Amsoil Arena.

DULUTH, Minn. – Here’s what the schedule has been for the UMD men’s hockey team: #16 Bemidji State, #3 Michigan and #10 Providence. Let’s keep the ride going this weekend against #4 Minnesota.

The Bulldogs and Gophers will renew their rivalry in a home-and-home series, their first meeting in two years. Minnesota comes into the series as the fourth best scoring team in the nation and plays a similar style to the Wolverines, who topped UMD last weekend.

“I think we can prepare very similarly. That first period against Michigan, I thought we were really good. If we just stick to a game plan similar to what we did in the first period, but for a full 60 minutes, I think the outcome will be good,” said defenseman Matt Anderson.

“They might be more skilled from top to bottom through their forward lines. Obviously they’ve got a veteran goalie in LaFontaine. Their d-core is very mobile. Certainly their high-end guys are good. They’ve got some talented freshman that are playing for them. Very deep team,” head coach Scott Sandelin said.

Friday night’s game will take place down at 3M Arena at Mariucci, while Saturday’s will be played at Amsoil Arena. Puck drop for both games is set for just after seven o’clock.
