City of Duluth Encourages Residents to Sign Up for Northland Alert

DULUTH, Minn.- Duluth City Officials encourage residents to sign up for Northland Alert. This automated messaging system will notify people of snow emergencies and other hazardous events occurring in designated areas.

The alert system services Duluth, Hermantown, Virginia, and more. The service allows residents to receive a text message, phone call, or email about a nearby incident.

The city will be utilizing the snow emergency notification feature soon as we approach winter conditions.

“It’s an automated system that will either send you a text message, email, or call your phone and let you know that a snow emergency has been declared along with other types of events, such as water outages, natural gas outages, or public safety concerns,” said Director of Public Works and Utilities Jim Benning.

Northland residents can adjust the notification settings to specific emergency incidents, including snow emergencies.

You can sign up for the automated alert system here.
