DULUTH, Minn. — Snow is falling again at Spirit Mountain — and we aren’t talking about the weather we’ve had this past weekend.
Crews fired up two dozen snow-making guns on the slopes over the weekend.
As long as temperatures are around 24 degrees or lower, the fake snow will be flowing 24/7.
It’s all to get ready for opening the season on Thanksgiving weekend.
“Just the smiles that the snow brings always the excitement that is here. We know our people are loving and chomping at the bit to be out here so we are getting everything ready to make that happen,” Spirit Mountain Resort Services Co-Director, Jon Regenold says.
On average Spirit Mountain pumps out 700 hours of snowmaking every year.
They use 84 million gallons of water from the St. Louis River to maintain 18 to 24 inches of snow on each run.
Opening day is planned for Black Friday.
If you want to work at Spirit Mountain, they’re hiring and employment comes with a yearly pass for just $1.
