Mont du Lac Celebrates Opening Day

SUPERIOR, Wis. — Mont du Lac Ski Resort got the chairlifts running, and the trails groomed Thursday morning to welcome in the crowds for opening day.

Snow crews got to work around 3 a-m Thursday morning, making sure everything was in tip-top shape for the hundreds of locals and out-of-towners who strapped up to hit the slopes.

For some, it was a way to celebrate the holiday, but for others, opening day feels kind of like its own holiday, and staff says the transition of seasons is always exciting, especially when it welcomes in new groups of people.

“It’s completely different, all of our seasons that we have here, all four seasons, we get a lot of locals, we get a lot of people traveling, but you get your regulars in the summer season and the winter season so its been just a great day so far seeing all the familiar faces we haven’t seen in a year,” Bridgette Duffy, Sales and Marketing Manager said.

“They actually probably got it up quicker this year, they’re doing a good job getting the snow up,” Henry Moeller, a skier from Duluth said, “”just hanging out, hitting jumps, its a lot of fun”.

Mont du Lac is open every day excluding Mondays, and season passes are for sale at an all time low from now till December 1st, where those prices will increase.
