Interchange Project Update

DULUTH, Minn.– As summer approaches, works continues on the Twin Ports Interchange Construction Project. It’s a total redesign for what was often called the “can of worms.”

Lots of ground work is now happening at the site, and plenty of heavy machinery will be operating there throughout the coming months. Besides the process of building and reinforcing several new roads, upgrades will also include transferring the flow of creeks.

It’s a long project, but everything remains on schedule despite some setbacks because of bad weather.

“We’re on schedule. We have, you know a few things that are running behind schedule due to, obviously, the late spring that we had, and the colder weather. But contract is doing what they can to catch up.” Construction Manager at MNDOT, Pete Marthaler, says.

The entire Twin Ports Interchange project is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2023.
