Mike’s Café And Pizzeria In Esko Hosts Blood Drive

ESKO, Minn. — Monday in Esko, one local business is doing their part to aid in the blood shortage across the nation.

Mike’s Café and Pizzeria is hosting a blood drive with Memorial Blood Centers right outside their doors Monday.

The restaurant’s goal is to “Fill the Bus,” in other words they are trying to get up to 36 donations by the end of the day. The business tells us they are very close to reaching that goal, with 32 donators lined up.

Mike’s has held multiple drives in the past couple years in an effort to increase the blood supply, as well as get the community involved locally to help save lives.

Andrea King, Co-Owner of Mike’s says, “I myself am a blood donor, so I try to promote it when I can and I feel like as a business owner it’s nice to be able to offer the opportunity, especially for Esko people to not have to drive out of town, they can just drive over here, hop on the bus, donate and save a life. I feel like we are doing our part to help fill up those voids of the blood that they’re missing, like I said, I’ve been donating for 15 years and I’m going to keep on going as long as I can.”

The blood drive at Mike’s Café and Pizzeria went until 7 p.m. Monday. Every donation could save up to 3 lives.
