Fourth Duluth City Councilor To Vacate Seat

Hannah Alstead

DULUTH, Minn. — Another seat is opening up on the Duluth City Council.

Councilor Hannah Alstead announced Thursday that she will not seek election for the 4th District.

Alstead was appointed by the council in July of 2022 after the passing of Councilor Renee Van Nett.

“It has been an honor to fill the seat previously held by my close friend and mentor Renee Van Nett,” Alstead said in a prepared statement. “I am excited to continue doing good work alongside my colleagues over the next year in my district and throughout the City of Duluth. A huge thank you to my family, friends, and mentors for being a part of all this with me. And a special thank you to the entire 4th District, I look forward to continue serving you over the next year.”

Noah Hobbs, who was appointed by the council to complete the remaining term vacated by Derek Medved, will also not seek election.

Arik Forsman and Gary Anderson are not seeking reelection.
