New Restaurant On Island Lake Has Been Successful

ISLAND LAKE, Minn. — Lake Effect Restaurant & Bar opened a month ago during a blizzard and business has been booming.

The Northwoods cozy feel restaurant has a mix of everything on their menu. It includes quick bites like wings to full rack ribs and even duck. The fan favorites so far have been the walleye sandwich, and the jerk pork stroganoff.

And just like any new restaurant, co-owner Laura Haack says they have been working to determine what works and what doesn’t. The owners also own Lake Avenue Restaurant & Bar in Canal Park. They say they have met so many new people from all over the Northland.

“It seems like everyone’s kind of converging on Lake Effect to come and check it out,” said Laura Haack. “It’s been gangbusters, it’s been incredible. We are overwhelmed with happiness at the reception we’ve received.”

When warmer weather comes around guests can expect outdoor seating and a drive-in. In the meantime, there’s a wine happy hour that will take place on Thursdays.

Lake Effect Restaurant & Bar is located along Rice Lake Road in Island Lake. Check out their website here.
