The organizations are partnering with the greater Minnesota Council of Churches to match the donations coming through their doors.

The food shelf served more than 16,000 people in 2020, and staff expects the need to go up as much as 20% in 2021.

Local organizations gathered the crowd to raise awareness of the growing number of people sleeping on the streets.

Warming centers face new challenges during the pandemic this year

"Because there are homeless people in the world and they had nothing, they had to dumpster dive to get food," said Grayson Zebro.

The organization is looking for donations to upgrade their pickup vehicle to meet demand.

The food shelf was helped by a big donation from the Rosary School.

Handwashing stations are geared to make it easier for CHUM visitors to keep their hands clean.

At no cost to CHUM, a large part of the building is being renovated.

Gloria Dei and CHUM Drop-In Warming Centers open again, in need of volunteers and supplies.

Guests should arrive no earlier than 8 p.m. each night.

Donations can be dropped off at CHUM, Damiano Center, or Loaves and Fishes.

Along with cars, attendants can donate a backpack of school supplies for CHUM to distribute.
