Over the next few weeks, KQDS FOX 21 will be upgrading its outlying translators in both Minnesota and Wisconsin to transmit a Digital broadcast signal. This means that digital/HD viewing will be soon available to viewers in the areas listed.
These translators are located in:
International Falls - channel 45
Grand Rapids - channel 29
Hibbing - channel 15
Virginia - channel 47
Ashland - channel 45
Hurley (Ironwood, MI) - channel 32
Hayward - channel 31
As these signals go offline and are replaced with DTV equipment, viewers will need either a Digital Television Set or a Digital Converter box in order to continue receiving our over-the-air broadcast.
This will allow viewers an enhanced viewing experience, including High Definition reception of our FOX 21.1 channel as well as our dot 2 channel, Antenna TV.
On October 27, television translator station K15GT in Hibbing, MN, which rebroadcasts the programming of KQDS-TV, Duluth, MN, will terminate its analog operations and convert to digital-only operations.
If you receive K15GT's signal over-the-air using an antenna, you may need to have your television receiving "rescan" the channels that are available in your area in order to continue to receive K15GT once the station transitions to digital-only operations. If you are having any difficulty receiving K15GT, please contact our engineering department.
Cable and satellite system viewing will not be impacted during the upgrade process. Viewers may experience outages of the over-the-air KQDS-TV signal, while work is being done.
We will update viewers on future upgrade dates for the other communities listed above.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause during the upgrade.
