A statewide coalition of labor, faith and community organizations are kicking off a campaign called “Minnesota Benefits.”
The campaign is pushing to help pass earned sick and safe time guarantees for more than a million Minnesotans who don’t’ earn even one sick day of safe time to take care of themselves or family.
“If someone is in a part-time job — that they earn up to five days to take off time to either care for themselves or care for a loved one. And for full-time workers, that would mean that they would have up to nine days off,” said Peggy Flanagan, with Children’s Defense Fund.
Organizers say there’s a strong bipartisan support on the bill.
