Officials with Animal Allies tell FOX 21 they received 15 kittens who were in bad shape.
They’re owner surrendered them after not being able to care of the animals.
They were malnourished, had a lot of fleas, upper respiratory illnesses and eye infections.
The male and female tabbies are coming along pretty well but some of them will require extra care, medical staff and maybe even eye surgeries which is estimated to cost at least $4,500.
“We try to save every single animal that comes our way,” Animal Allies Operations Director Daryl Yankee said. “But in order to stay alive ourselves and survive as an organization we have to be able to cover our cost. We’re not going to cover all of the costs to bring these animals back to health just through adoption fees.”
Animal Allies tells FOX 21 the fury cuties are doing a lot better.
Their fleas have been stabilized and they are on the right medication.
When the kittens are completely healed they’ll be spayed and neutered.
So far the shelter has received nearly$ 3,000 in donations to help the sick kittens.
