Tuesday morning, Duluth Pack held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of their new distribution center.
The new building allows a larger area for customer service, distribution, and shipping.
It’s something that Duluth Pack President, Tom Sega, said was risky, but necessary.
“It’s been scary,” Sega said. “Anytime you’re expanding like that it’s a scary move. It’s a big step that you take, but we knew we had to do it, and it’s the first step in the future of the Duluth Pack company.
The new warehouse is about 10,000 square feet, and is just down the road from their current location.
“It’s helped us just lean out the company from so many different areas, from distribution and shipping, which is a very critical part of the whole process, and making sure you get the right bag in the right hands and in a timely manner,” Sega added.
As for the future, the plan is to use this new facility to the fullest for the next three to five years and then bring the company all under one roof again.
