Hartley Nature Center will celebrate the winter season with their 9th annual candlelight ski, skate and snowshoe event.

Thursday afternoon, preschoolers made milk carton ice lanterns in preparation for the big day.

“We are trying to get the kids connected to the outdoors and to Hartley. It’s a great family activity and some of the preschool families will be in attendance.  So, we thought we would get them involved,” said Hartley’s Executive Director, Tom O’Rourke.

The event celebrates the cold weather season.

People attending will have a chance to join in on hikes and ski on illuminated cross country trails.

“We are going to get people out on the trails and enjoying the outdoors as we have to do in Minnesota.  And, doing what Hartley does best, we are connecting people with nature,” said O’Rourke.

The event runs this Saturday, February 7th, from 4 p.m.- 7 p.m.
