Locals Confront Issues with Aging in Minnesota

A town hall forum kicked off at Ecumen Lakeshore to discuss aging in Minnesota.
By 2031, 25% of Minnesotans will be over the age of 65 creating a rising demand for services.
Volunteers and senior care staff say more efforts need to go towards providing services and solutions for affordable senior housing, quality healthcare and higher paying wages.
“We’re going to see more access issues,” Leading Age Minnesota Vice President of Public Relations Jodi Boyne said. “Where seniors who need quality care are being denied access to a community or being forced to move further away from their loved ones.”
A bill at the capital this session will look at reforming the system to provide a better quality of life for senior citizens.
