It’s hard to think of the Duluth Huskies and not think of Craig Smith, the team’s General Manager since the franchise started in 2003.
However, Smith turned in his resignation over the weekend, effective immediately.
Smith is leaving the Huskies to pursue other business opportunities.
Duluth Owner Mike Rosenzweig hopes to have an interim G.M. named soon, but in the meantime Smith’s day-to-day duties will be split up among the rest of the Huskies’ permanent staff.
Rosenzwieg says smith will be missed.
“Craig Smith did a tremendous amount for baseball in the Northland and for the Duluth Huskies,” Rosenzweig said. “We’re going to miss him. We wish him weel, certainly.”
The Huskies open their 15th season in the Northwoods League May 27th at Wade Stadium against the Willmar Stingers.
