Calling all Dog Lovers! Give your little furry friend an extra hug and treat because it’s National Puppy Day!
If you don’t have a puppy, Monday is the perfect day to adopt or volunteer at a local animal shelter.
The day is intended to help save orphaned puppies and raise awareness about the horrors of puppy mills.
“There’s a lot of reputable breeders out there. So, if you’re looking to add a family member or rescue an animal, make sure that your puppy comes from a safe and warm environment,” said Animal Allies Marketing Director, Amy Miller.
But, that’s not the only thing Animal Allies in Duluth wants to stress.
“What we really like to stress here is yes, it’s national puppy day but really it’s thinking about adding that companion no matter what age they are,” said Miller.
More than 800 puppies are adopted a year at the shelter.
