The Duluth Distribution Center will close for good April 18th.
Outgoing mail will be shipped to the Twin Cities.
“Now, it’s going to be delayed and have no processing here. It’s going to get picked up with the carriers and get right sent to the Cities and they have to do the whole process, not just the one process,” said the President of the American Postal Worker’s Union, Todd Fawcett.
Northland Residents will no longer be able to mail letters after work and expect it to make the day’s last collection.
The last daily mail collection in Duluth will be at 3:15 p.m.
The public is already unhappy with the changes as their outgoing mail will take longer to get to their destination.
“They are already seeing a change that their mail is not getting their in a timely manner. They’re upset and you can’t blame them for that,” said Fawcett.
There will be 70 layoff after changes are made.
Duluth is one of 82 centers closing across the country.
