Authorities Release Suspect's Identity in Trooper's Killing in WI
Authorities have now identified the man suspected of killing a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper in Fond du Lac.
The state Department of Justice names the suspect as Steven Timothy Snyder.
It doesn’t give his age or hometown but says his family in Michigan has been notified.
Authorities say Trooper Trevor Casper died Tuesday evening in a shootout with Snyder, a bank robbery suspect who’s believed to have killed another motorist earlier.
Snyder also died in the shootout.
Casper was a Kiel,WI native who was active in high school sports and once made the prom court.
Casper graduated from high school in 2011.
Superintendent Louise Blankenheim says he was a varsity wrestler and soccer player.
In Fond du Lac, flags were at half-staff and flowers had been left at the northeast region patrol headquarters where Casper was based.
