It’s Wednesday night and time for Hanger Hits the Road. This week, FOX 21’s Dan Hanger takes you to Iron River, Wis., that’s got a wide range of offerings, especially on the driving range.
Iron River is 40 miles east of superior in Bayfield County — home to around 1,200 people and full of all the trails, streams and wildlife northern Wisconsin has to offer.
“If you are looking at an all-around place to go visit, come to Iron River and you’ll find out how nice it is,” said Tim Landgreen, owner of Northern Pines Golf Course.
The 9-hole course sits on 150 acres.
“You won’t find a fairway that you can hit into another fairway and not cause damage to any other golfer,” Landgreen said.
The family built the golf course 15 years ago, which has grown to include a clubhouse and banquet hall for year-round business.
“You won’t see an alligator, but you might see a deer,” laughed Mike Landgreen, Tim’s son.
Mike says the property was purposely designed for more than just good golfers.
“We’ve got a great view of the golf course. You want to sit down, read a book, have a drink — have at it,” Mike Landgreen said.
It’s a family approach to this business with a passion for Iron River and northern Wisconsin that keeps people anxiously coming back for more — as soon as the snow melts off and spring moves in.
