“Tell me about yourself” and ‘Where do you see yourself in 5 years?” were questions asked Wednesday at the 6th Annual Northland Job Fair.
Hundreds from northern Minnesota strolled through the DECC with hopes they were the right fit for one of the 124 employers at the show.
“When you get here, it might be your one chance to shake an employer’s hand. The hiring manager is right in front of you. It’s not e-mail, it’s not through an online application, it’s just a whole bunch of mini–interviews in one day,” explained Rhonda Rutford, a business services representative for the state of Minnesota.
All employers at the fair were actively looking to hire, and event coordinators emphasized the importance of networking.
“Just to be able to come in and make a connection, even if you’ve applied online, just to follow up with a handshake with that employer, because it happens once a year that we’re able to do this and pull this huge group together,” Rutford added.
