DULUTH, Minn. – Raise a glass! It’s National Beer Day and there’s even some history behind it.
On April 7th, 1933, President Franklin Roosevelt took a step toward ending prohibition and signed a law allowing people to brew and sell beer in the United States under certain guidelines.
Now breweries are popping up across the nation – and Minnesota is no exception.
“It’s a big day here at Bent Paddle, we’re canning our Paddle Break Blonde for the first time this year, it’s a long canning run. Our guys have been here since 3 a.m. this morning and will be here till probably about 7 tonight canning the first run. We figured National Beer Day was a good day to can our beer,” said Bent Paddle Brewing Company CEO Bryon Tonnis.
Bent Paddle canned 1400 cases Tuesday, which adds up to thousands of can.
