DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Louis River is getting national attention from non-profit, American River, but it’s not positive.
The group has coined the river as one of America’s most endangered.
It’s gained that title because of PolyMet Mining’s NorthMet Project to mine copper-nickel sulfide in the headwaters.
The fear is thousands of acres of wetlands will be destroyed.
American Rivers is calling on state and federal agencies to deny permits for the current mine plan.
