Spring has sprung but that doesn’t come without allergies.
This year, Doctors say a “pollen vortex” may have some of us reaching for the tissues more often.
The cold winter delayed the start of tree buds in the Northland.
But, now as the temperature is rising, it’s causing the trees to start blooming and it could be a rough year once the pollen reaches it’s peak.
As a lot of us prepare to reach for the Benedryl tot tackle the symptoms, naturalists say there are non-medicinal habits folks can do to help combat allergies.
They say diet and exercise are the foundation to keeping your immune system strong.
“The patient should really be looking at the quality air cleaners for their homes and a lot of people should tear out their carpeting and put in hardwood floors or something to reduce everything that is in the carpeting,” said Dr. Robb Anderson from the Duluth Natural Medicine and Chiropractic.
Taking actions such as keeping doors and windows closed can also help keep the pollen out of the house.
Roughly 60 million Americans suffer from allergies.
