Twin Ports residents were given the opportunity Friday to bring unwanted medications for a safe and legal disposal.

The Household Hazardous Waste Facility is encouraging locals to get leftover or expired pills out of the house.

“It’s so important because there are a lot of times small children, there are cases of folks if you have too many of those things built up, you may be thinking that you’re taking a prescription that’s current, and you’re taking something outdated or you’re taking the wrong one,” said Karen Anderson, Director of Community Relations.

Officials want to remind you not to flush unwanted pills down the toilet.

The next Medicine Cabinet Clean–Out Day will be July 10.
