Hanger Hits The Road: Minong, Wis.

It’s Wednesday night, and time for Hanger Hits the Road.  Last week was Biwabik, and this week is Minong, Wisconsin, where there’s more than Jack Link’s Beef Jerky, as FOX 21’s Dan Hanger reports.

It’s a slower type of pace in Minong where the cows graze the hills and eventually create the one-and-only Jack Link’s jerky.

“Well, he’s employing 450 people and they are good paying jobs and he takes care of everybody. They got good benefits. If you want to work, he’s always looking for help,” said Ken Jurasz, owner of Minong business Club Northern.

But if you go a little deeper into the heart of Minong, you find just that – the people – who make it home to roughly 520.

Jurasz’s bar and grill is a family hot spot in a 100-year-old building that started out as a bank and has since become known for its Chicago-inspired pizza.

“I got my own mixer, everything, the doe and the sauce. It’s all homemade,” Jurasz said.

Jurasz describes Minong as a friendly place where businesses support each other, and where tourism thrives in the summer, especially when the snow birds head back to the cabins.

“Come on down, we’re here. We’re here to take care of you the best we can,” Jurasz said.
