Organization Honors Duluth’s Mayor
L.I.S.C. Holds Annual Celebration
A community organization that helps build healthy and sustainable communities hosted one of its biggest annual events.
The “Local Initiatives Support Corporation” or “L.I.S.C.” honored Mayor Don Ness for his work to promote visions which improve the community.
Each year they honor someone or an organization for the role they’ve played in building a healthy community.
Leaders say they like to look at the big picture when it comes to helping out.
“A big new focus for us is not just looking at the Hillside and Lincoln Park and West Duluth and Morgan Park but looking at the whole St. Louis River corridor, in addition to the Hillside. So we’ve been involved in working with the river corridor coalition and the city on this whole vision for the St. Louis River and that’s very exciting it involves housing and schools and parks and the cleanup of the environment and that’s a big new focus for us.” said executive director Pam Kramer.
Duluth’s “L.I.S.C.” is part of a national organization that’s been in the community for 18 years.
