Firefighters responded to a surface fire at Grizzly’s near Miller Hill Mall early Wednesday afternoon.
The fire was ruled as accidental and was caused by improper disposal of smoking products.
No one was injured.
With such a vast majority of fire occurring in the Northland, the Fire Department sends out a message to all to be careful of what they are disposing.
“Properly dispose of your smoking materials, douse them and make sure they are wet. Once again, even though you may be using a proper can to dispose of you cigarettes it still needs to be wet down because as those cigarettes build up they are creating the fuel. So, if one goes in that’s not out than it has enough fuel to get whatever’s adjacent to that can on fire,” Duluth Fire’s Asst. Chief, Dennis Edwards.
The building only suffered exterior damage.
