Superior Continues with Ash Tree Removal

Less snow is making it possible for crews to continue removing ash trees in Superior.
You may have recently got an orange dot on your ash tree indicating a possible removal in the next few weeks.
Forestry officials tell FOX 21 right now they are taking down more than 900 trees on the south end and Hammond corridors as well as the Billings Park neighborhood.
So far they are on schedule.
“It’s a very good thing that we’re making good progress because the city arborist tells me that a number of the trees in the east end neighborhood were showing signs and symptoms of emerald ash borer,” Superior parks and recreation administrator Mary Morgan said.
New trees will be replanted to replace chopped down ash trees.
You can learn more about emerald ash borer next April 22nd 6:30 p.m. at the Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve.
