Thursday, dozens gathered to eat pancakes for a good cause.

The Kenwood Lutheran Church hosted a pancake dinner raising money to bring solar power to a hospital in Liberia.

Right now, the hospital struggles to keep power in all the wards, and is very understaffed.

“There’s only 4 doctors for 450,000 people,” said project leader, MaryJo Mettler. “For 100,000 people in the Cities, we have 263 doctors.”

Since 2013, the group has raised $50,000. They hope to reach a goal of $200,000.
